BEFORE THE STORM - MOHA goes out with a BANG!
I don’t have all the answers. But I know I don’t want to face it alone.
Optional: BRING YOUR SLEEPING BAG!
On Friday June 27th, everyone is cordially invited to the closing of BEFORE THE STORM, an installation created by Alice, Hadir, Huda, Iman, Marjorie, Meada, Nesma, Olivia, Sjoerd, Wafa and Yahia as part of SHEBANG, by guest curators MOHA—an artist collective from Amsterdam.
In this work, MOHA, together with a working group of local residents and creatives, have brought together the various skills and strategies—that we all have when facing our own personal storms—and transformed them into communal tools that visitors can ‘take home’. What you see in the SHEBANG space are personal and poetic perspectives, made to share and activate yourself.
From 18:00 onwards, several members of the working group will be present to guide you through the different parts of the installation. Friday also marks our farewell, not only to MOHA and their process, but also to the building itself. This temporary location, which has already been abandoned, will be demolished in August. WE GO OUT WITH A BANG…! With delicious Ethiopian food from Adunya, a live concert of Valerio de Gama Latin Band, a movie night for children and of course: drinks, dancing and great company.
For those who find it hard to say goodbye and are looking for an adventure: the MOHA team will be sleeping in our space on Friday night. So bring your sleeping bag if you want to stay over! In the morning at 11:00 am, after breakfast, there will be a poetry and spoken word workshop by artist Hermano Wanabo.
